Event Description
The theme of this weekend Dances of University Peace workshop is Cosmic Celebration. We will journey through various spiritual traditions of the world. We will experience movement and rest as we explore dances and chants with themes of the season, healing, and connection with the Earth and ourselves.On Saturday evening, we will be dancing the Aramaic Lord's Prayer, a moving meditation with life-changing wisdom using the words Yeshua (Jesus) taught to his disciples. As we learn each line, we move together chanting in Aramaic, the original language used by Jesus, to experience a deeper connection to this spiritual practice of transformational love.The workshop will be led by Alima Jeanne Whiting. She is a musician, Dances of Universal Peace leader and mentor, creator of The Movement of the Month using the Dances with elementary students, co-founder of the Vermont Institute for Joy and Movement, former music teacher (31 years), and brings music and singing to assisted living/memory care homes in Vermont where she lives in the Green Mountains.Schedule & Activities:Friday, November 8, 2024 - 7 pm to 9 pm: Monthly Ottawa Dances of Universal Peace GatheringSaturday, November 9 - 9:30 am to 5 pm: Cosmic Celebration workshop (Doors open at 9:30; morning session 10 am to noon; afternoon session 1:30 pm to 4 pm; optional gentle yoga from 4 pm to 5pm)Saturday, November 9 - 7 pm to 9 pm: The Aramaic Lord's Prayer of JesusSunday, November 10 - morning: Leaders Gathering (time and location tbd)Location (Friday & Saturday): First United Church Ottawa, 347 Richmond Rd, Ottawa, ON K2A 0E7Fees:Full weekend: Friday and Saturday (daytime and evening) = $100 (scholarships available)Friday evening only: by donation (collected on-site)Saturday evening only: Aramaic Lord's Prayer = $25.Registration: https://forms.gle/fnGMcd33pSvEkFn3AOttawa, Ontario
